Market Day in Machynlleth
Every Wednesday is market day in Machynlleth. You will want to get there before lunchtime as the car parks tend to fill early. Bring coins to pay for parking, and pick up birdseed and peanuts at the stall located near the clock tower to feed the birds at Maesywerngoch. In Machynlleth there are two supermarkets. The first, The Co-operative (The Co-op) is located at the far end of the High Street with a large car park. And there is a SPAR supermarket, also on the High Street, with a post office inside.
Located across the street from the Wynnstay Hotel in Machynlleth, this butcher shop has excellent locally sourced meat, eggs, homemade pies, and more. Will, the proprietor, was recently made an MBE for his services to the industry—particularly for sourcing his livestock from farm suppliers that are 20 miles away at most. Telephone the shop to check their daily offerings at 01654 702 106.
